The single stitch
The black cord represents 2 petals of the flower.
Overlap the petals a bit.
Bring the wire from the left side past the left petal.
Go OVER the lower edge of the RIGHT petal and UNDER the edges of the two petals.
Bring the wire out. Pass it OVER the bottom edge of the LEFT petal and OVER itself.
Snug up the stitch.
The next row (color change for clarity). Again, you come from the left.
Bring the wire past the stitch in the row above and OVER the row above on the RIGHT side of the stitch.
Pass it in from the RIGHT going UNDER the stitch in the previous row.
Come out from the LEFT side of the stitch in the row above and pass the wire OVER the wire in the row above and itself.
Snug up the stitch in the second row.
Here in 28g. fine silver. (The flower is 24g. Steel.)
Working from LEFT to RIGHT (if held in the L. Hand and stitching with the R. Hand) L. Thumb is securing previous stitch so it does not get pulled too tight.
The L. Thumb is securing the wire while it is drawn through the stitch in the row above.
Here is a stitch in the fourth row being snugged up.
Pass wire under. Note: finger securing the wire from the last stitch
Take up slack
Snug it up, keep an eye on the amount of space between the rows, don't over tighten.
Make a nice crisp stitch
Rotate the work counterclockwise, secure the most recent stitch with your finger, and do it again.
