Easy Twiddler Modifications for large hands
I have large hands. I found the unmodified Twiddler uncomfortable. Here is the simplest way I have come up with to make it feel like it fits.
There are 3 changes made to the Twiddler that help it fit large hands better
1) The anchor point of the strap is moved back on the case by using fiber tape and an old backpack strap. This makes the Twiddler stable in my hand.
2) A piece of foam from an old mouse mat is added between the hand and case effectivly Incresing the size of the case
Together with the strap angle change, the mouse mat makes the row closest to your palm comfortable to type
3) A thumb rest is added. This one is made from bit of rubber floor mat hot glued in place.
Here you can see the strap end is just fiber taped to the Twiddler. The angle of the thumb rest can be seen as well.
These shots should give you a good idea of the angle I like. You can also see the way the mouse pad floats on the Twiddler strap.
I probably went overboard on the amount of fiber tape I used but it has not yet become loose at all
In use, your hand is never against the fiber tape as the mouse pad is between you and it
The thumb rest is just stuck on with light duty craft hot glue and can be removed with a little pealing and twisting with no visible effect on the Twiddler case. Here is the back of the mouse pad.
Here it is assembled and adjusted for my hand
I still prefer my 7 key chorder, but at least with these hacks I feel like the Twiddler fits my hand.
If you try this hack please let me know how it goes. -Greg
