USB Device Descriptor Error:Solved

  device descriptor read/64, error -62

Stephen Cuzzort reports that when he plugged in the spiffchorder for the first time, he saw the following errors (visible in dmesg output):

[13146.152000] usb 1-2: new low speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 6
  [13146.336000] usb 1-2: device descriptor read/64, error -62
  [13146.636000] usb 1-2: device descriptor read/64, error -62

He discovered that “The problem was the two capacitors connected in parallel with VCC (on the right side close to the USB).  One of them was not connected - just double checking that each wire was firmly in the breadboard was all I needed.”

A look on line has shown other folks seeing this same error when building other usb projects.  The fix is often in the part of the circuit dealing with the initial handling of the VCC line (ether a capacitor or a in some circuits a pull up resister not connected properly).  If you see this error, start your debugging with that part of the circuit.
